Welcome to the CAREERNEXUS Programme

You will see from the Contents listing that this is the first entirely web based, self paced, strategic, and totally comprehensive Careers Management programme. The programme has been designed by industry professionals to guide you through the many difficulties in today’s job market, into the right job for you now, and will guide you into the future to ensure you achieve your goals.

Whether you are looking for:

• A job

• Progression

• A better job

• Higher status

• A new career

• Recognition

• More money

• Work/Life balance

You will be competing head to head with thousands of others, who are, on paper at least, as good at the job as you.

How then do you:

• Differentiate yourself

• Ensure you get the offer ahead of the competition

• Establish your ideal career opportunity

• Negotiate the best deal

• Find the right employers for you

• Manage your career into the future

• Create a marketing plan to put you in front of those employers

It has become a cliché, however the purpose of the programme is not only to feed you now, but to teach you to fish for the rest of your career. Thus you will always have food.

The Assessment module is completely Free. We have created this offer because we know that when you have completed this self-awareness process, you will have a much greater understanding of yourself, your achievements and your goals, your strengths and weaknesses, and a real insight into the job market and just why you might have been having problems in securing the right job/career.

This module only exposes the problems though, and does not solve them. The solution is far greater than just rewriting your CV. Whilst this is definitely a help, it is only part of the overall solution, as your CV is only designed to get you the interview, it does nothing to establish direction, the right employers for you, to develop interview and negotiating techniques, and so importantly, just having a new CV will not help you manage your career long term.

To actually solve the problems and opportunities that you will identify, comes later, and as you would imagine, at a cost. However the good news is that the total programme can be purchased for only £249 inc. VAT.

Introduction

Most people fail to plan their careers. They will plan a holiday, a night out at a concert etc, however when it comes to the most important decision of their lives, they leave it to chance. And we all know what can happen to a rudderless ship!

People will invest a great deal of time, money, and effort in their lifestyle, however very little in their most valuable asset – Themselves.

It is no surprise then that most people fail to achieve their full potential; they underestimate their full value, and thus work at a level below their capability and thus the commensurate income.

Studies show incomes to be between 15% and 25% suppressed on average for this very reason, with numerous examples of considerably higher percentages. Just ask yourself, what would that kind of increase in income do for you? If that sounds incredible, do not forget that between 75% and 80% of jobs are found through the unadvertised job market, and whilst we will be helping you to get this next right job through all sources, including Recruitment Consultants, the press, and the internet job sites, this is the area on which we will focus in later modules. This means that not only are these jobs obtained through contacts, thus ensuring a closer fit to your skills/requirements, but also there is no intermediary involved, thus that fee can be invested in you, the new employee, hence the additional income percentage.

The Careernexus Programme will guide and mentor you, prompt and drive you, to self awareness and discovering exactly who you are, what your core skills and achievements are, and what your future potential really is. You will establish what your most saleable assets are, ie: why will an employer select you ahead of all the other candidates, and why they will pay you more money than you have been earning.

The result will be the ‘right’ position for you. Not just ‘a job’. A definition of the right job could be:

A career position that continues to offer you sufficient challenges in terms of both breadth and depth, in the duties and responsibilities of your work, thus using most of your major skills and abilities. It is important that you should enjoy what you do for a living, and this sense of general well being will tend to ensure your overall success, and in turn, will have a highly positive effect on your work-life balance.

We know this as job satisfaction, which in turn creates greater productivity and achievement that leads to the fullest rewards with recognition, promotion, income and other goals necessary for your maximum fulfilment.

This right job should cater for your growth in terms of:

  • Continual growth to achieve your optimum level of executive and professional skill and potential
  • An increase in authority and responsibility to ensure sufficient variety thus avoiding repetitiveness and boredom.
  • Your environment is vital, not only in terms of your location, but also the environment in the company. A political environment can strangle the creativity of the individuals that make up the company, and seriously harm your prospects and even that of the company itself, thus an environment where the right level of interpersonal relationships, and organisational philosophy is at its most positive and empowering will enhance your job satisfaction, and your career advancement.

When you achieve this right job you will know it. Not only because you are working at your most efficient level, and are achieving full satisfaction, but importantly, when you get that head hunt call offering you a big raise, you might consider it, but ultimately you would be happy to turn it down and walk away if it does not offer you a better work experience and/or career path in the future. You are truly experiencing job satisfaction!

The future job market

Previously, there were professions and career paths that offered ‘jobs for life’. From the medical profession, through law and accounting, to the Post Office and the various guises of MG Rover. Since the ‘flattening of the world’ which has been gathering pace over the last few years, many jobs that were once land-locked can now very easily be exported to India or China, and very few jobs remain rooted by geography.

Most people will face several changes in company, job, and even career during the course of their working lives. Jobs that do not need to actually be performed in the immediate locale will gravitate to the most efficient/cheapest region, currently in Asia, or Eastern Europe.

Thus it is encumbent on everybody to substitute a ‘job for life’ with ‘employability for life’, and this means developing and maintaining your levels of skills and qualifications at a level where you will continue to be desirable to the right employer at the right level.

This will require an equal effort on behalf of the employers. The best are already increasingly involved in helping to ‘enable’ your self development, thus employability, through for example, workplace MBA’s. Thus they are investing in those who are prepared to invest in themselves, and are developing a more highly qualified and motivated work force.

However, it is ultimately your responsibility to maintain that edge, to be able to offer value add to a company, and to thus maintain your employability through to the age you wish to retire. Not forgetting that employability becomes increasingly difficult with increasing age despite legislation and regulation to the contrary.

So what do I do now?

You will need to collect a large amount of data which will prove to be invaluable information for your job search campaign, and then you will need to analyse it and distil from it all the key data that you will use to promote yourself and run an effective, professional marketing campaign. Fortunately the Programme will guide you to collect the data, you will not be expected to know everything you need.

This information will help you to understand:

  • Your Key Assets- these are your skills and strengths. These are the elements about you that you use to achieve results, consequently what will interest an employer, and why they will be prepared to pay you well.
  • Your Career Preferences- what is it you really want to do for the rest of your working life. When you get that right, the more readily you will achieve success.
  • The ingredients of your work- the type of company, environment, etc. When you finally satisfy these key elements, success is always easier to achieve.
  • Any weaknesses and constraints- you will need to be aware of these weaknesses to either solve any soluble shortfalls, or avoid them in your work thus negating them. Constraints are external factors that you may not be able to control immediately or at all, eg: disability, lack of qualifications, the economy etc.

The Programme will help you all the way, prompting you to draw out this vital information, and then guide you through the process of analysing it, and developing a coherent strategy.

As mentioned earlier, the entire programme only costs £249 (inc Vat) and represents one of the best investments you will ever make, and all for the price of a good night out, (alright, a very good night out).
